The Center for Renewable Carbon is pleased to welcome Assistant Professor Zihao Zhang to our faculty. Zihao brings over five years of postdoctoral research experience, having worked since 2019 at the Advanced Catalysis Engineering (aCe) of ETH Zurich, the Swiss Light Source (SLS) of Paul Scherrer Institute, and the Institute for Integrated Catalysis (IIC) of Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. He earned his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Zhejiang University in 2019 and his B.S. in Light Chemical Engineering from Shaanxi University of Science & Technology in 2014. During his Ph.D. studies, he spent a year and a half as a visiting Ph.D. student at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Zihao’s research focuses on uncovering the fundamental principles of heterogeneous catalysis to enable precise engineering of active sites and their surrounding environments for the efficient valorization of renewable carbon resources, including CO2 and CH4. He has named his research group Fundamental & Applied Catalysis (FACt). We are excited to have Zihao join the CRC faculty team and look forward to his contributions!
